“This sounds amazing, but I think I’m gonna wait just a little more until I lose 20 pounds.”
“This year I embark on a weight loss journey and when I finished I’ll book my boudoir shoot with you.”
“I wish I could look this good (like the picture) but I have a tummy to loose. Then I’ll book my photoshoot with you.”
Excuses or Fears? The latter.
I know what it feels like to have 40 pounds surplus after becoming a mom. Sure, you can be a mom and have a bomb body (because you prioritize yourself, kudos) but most women, in fact, most people are stress eaters and believe me, my cortisol goes way up high when both my kids are shouting, wrestling and I’m trying to make dinner. You know what I mean, don’t you?
And I know you don’t even have to be a mom to have extra, it just happens, life happens, stress happens and we are all human. And some of us, we just love to eat darn it! :)
Does that mean you can’t be beautiful?
You can’t be seen?
You should lock yourself away, not look in the mirror and decide to never love yourself again?
What will all that come down to?
I know. Self-hate. Self-punishment. Denial - of the reality of life, of your circumstances, of your beautiful soul that people see.
See, beauty is not just the meat we wear. It’s our soul coming through that wears that meat. The stardust we are made of. The magic of our existence. The love in our hearts.
So it’s really crucial to stop the self-hate. You’ll not lose weight if you punish yourself. You’ll fall back on the old habits. Hate doesn’t drive change. Love does.
So let me propose something outrageous:
What if you look inside of yourself and think back on your life. What if you list all the things you endured, survived, achieved, loved?
What if you start practicing self-compassion and find love for yourself?
What if you maybe just start by falling back in love with one thing in you? The twinkling of your eyes? The way your hair shines? The softness of your skin? That dimple when you smile?
There must be something, one thing!
Let me go even further: What if you come to me and let me photograph you? As you are. Curves and rolls and everything! What if just for one day you allowed yourself to embrace yourself as a whole?
Out of this, 2 magical things can happen:
1) You see yourself for the beautiful woman you are, for the first time, through the photos I take and fall back in love with yourself and love who you are. You start to glow more, dress better, enjoy makeup (or not! that’s fine too), do your hair more often and even people notice your glow. But that doesn’t matter anymore, because you decided to love yourself even more. A domino effect of good things will follow.
2) You see yourself for the beautiful woman you are, for the first time, through the photos I take and fall back in love with yourself and embark on a fitness journey you always tried but failed and now, because you do this out of love for yourself, you’ll actually succeed.
Either way, Your life will change. Forever.
Now, let me know you some beautiful curvy women I have photographed in my Bury St Edmunds boudoir studio and see to believe whatever size you are, you are gorgeous and you deserve to be seen!
