In-home newborn photography session in Bury St Edmunds

I would like to show a lifestyle session I have photographed in a home of my very first client. They were so comfortable with me being there, and the honeymoon phase of postpartum, being in love with their baby was so tangible, it was a very emotional session in the best sense.

This little lady was so relaxed I think she didn’t even make a sound the whole time. She was wide awake when I entered their home and was constantly looking for her mom’s gaze. She was alert and it was so much fun to photograph their connection. She was around 3 weeks old at the time, and at this time newborns start to develop a closer connection with their parents, and they are more alert. It’s so much fun to capture their personality!

As you can see I make sure I take LOTS of images of the family as a whole. For me, it is the highlight of the session. I don’t do 50 different poses and props with baby, because I find it that the images that have the most meaning for the parents and for the baby in the future are those that show the connection of the family in these early days.

If I close my eyes and remember back to when I had my first son, it was all about holding him 24/7. That was our life, holding, snuggling, feeding, sleeping together. It was an amazing honeymoon phase of our life that I will always remember as such: together, in symbiosis. So I took that upon as my mission, to show the tenderness of being a new parent, the tenderness of going on this journey together, as a family.
